When can I shower after a knee or hip replacement?

If the incision is still draining, you must keep it covered with a waterproof bandage.  Once the drainage stops, usually within 3 days of returning home, you may shower without covering it.  Do not scrub it.  Just let the soapy water run over it and blot dry after the shower.
